10 Deadly Fashion Sins

If being fashionable were a virtue, most men would be arduous sinners.

Owning fancy brands does not equate good taste, thus resulting in faux pas that are nothing short of eyesores. Here are some mistakes bad enough to send the fashion police knocking down your door.

1. The Wild Shirt
In their attempts of putting together outfits, men come up with erratic choices for shirts which are not even amusing. Wild design and camouflage prints are best reserved for costume parties and not for daily wear. Since what you wear ends up defining you, choose your clothes wisely regardless of your impulses. It is always safe to stick to basic colours, checks and narrow pinstripes when it comes to shirts.

2. Pointy Dress Shoes
Unless you’re out on a homicide roll to kill people by stabbing them with your shoes, one suggests throwing your pointed dress-shoes in the garbage. Dress shoes are a marker for good taste and pointed shoes are huge turn-offs. Fashionable men should invest in brogues, loafers, and Italian-cut dress-shoes. Not only are these pairs versatile and classy, in every sense of the word, they are supremely comfortable to walk around in as well.

3. Ornate Chains
Unless you were impersonating Bappi Lahiri at a costume party, one would suggest that you keep away from jewellery at all times. Nothing makes for a bigger sin, than to see men adorning ornate or clunky chains around their necks. The only permissible jewellery that a man is allowed to wear is a classic piece of watch. Investing in a basic piece will add pizzazz to your outfit.

4. White Socks with Black Shoes
While this combination was permissible in school, no one should follow this rule having grown up. White socks showing through dark coloured lowers is a scandalous death sentence. Always wear black socks with your shoes. Not only do they blend away with your outfit, but also lend a touch of class to your overall look.

5. Ill-Fitted Suits
Can there be an eyesore worse than watching one walk around in their great-grandfather’s suit? While it is exciting to adopt vintage styles, no one should forget that an unflattering fit is bad enough to ruin the look of even the most prized suits. Even if you intend on using a vintage suit, make sure you get them tailored to your specifications.

6. Underwear Alert
Most people get away with wearing crappy underwear because they believe that what doesn’t show is not accounted for. On the contrary, a good piece of underwear is very telling on your overall look. Not only does it provide ample support but is also a confidence booster.

7. Wrap-Around Sunglasses
In the list of fashion sins, this has to be the most unforgivable one by far. Wrap-around sunglasses are unflattering for every face and make one look like a douche bag. With such variety in sunglasses, one can easily sport the effortless looks created by aviators and wayfarers.

8. Shirtless in Public
Unless it’s a pool party, it is not okay to show your beef around in public. While fit physiques are exempted from this rule, people with flab on their tummy are suggested against this vehemently.

9. Neon Colours
While it can look good on women, men are advised to stick to the neutral and basic colour palette. While having a solitary item in a neon colour is permissible with sufficient neutral cover-ups, men should keep away from this trend.

10. Unkempt Facial Hair
They say that the best accessory one can wear is their hair. If that is true, then unkempt facial hair is the biggest fashion mistake and a gross sight for onlookers. Unkempt beard does not look fashionable in anyway. It should either be groomed or shaved off completely.

With this tale of caution, you are advised to stop sinning in the name of fashion. Dress well to be remembered for your good tastes.
