Botox

Busy with establishing their careers, an increasing number of women are choosing to get married in their 30s and even 40s. Looking good is a must and it is a Botox jab that guarantees glowing skin on D-Day for many of these women. Skin experts say Botox brides are definitely the trend.

According to a survey conducted by a leading matrimonial site, 65 per cent of girls in the city are not in a hurry to get married. Of them, almost half, about 45 per cent, go for Botox treatment, say industry insiders.

"Everyone is conscious about their skin and appearance and it leads to a huge demand for bridal Botox treatments. Women plan their wedding and cosmetic treatments well in advance with the help of experts. They do a Botox trial run about three-four months ahead of the wedding day," Delhi-based cosmetic dermatologist Vandana Chatrath told IANS.

Usually, brides-to-be opt for Botox treatment to get rid of frown lines, crow's feet, eyebrow shaping, face contouring and the most embarrassing problem - excessive underarm sweating.

The Botox Trend

Said Rashmi Shetty, a cosmetic physician based in Mumbai says "The most popular Botox treatment among brides is treatment for hyperhidrosis (controlling excessive sweating). No bride wants to don a sweaty patch under her armpit especially on her wedding day and in her wedding pictures."

The second most popular treatment, she said, is brow lift as it "leaves you with desirable arch and gives you a lively and happy look".

Another sought after treatment is for open pores. Explaining the procedure, Shetty told IANS, "Brides are made to sit under spotlight for hours on their wedding day and their wider pores make their skin look sticky and tired. To deal with the problem, a micro-injection is given to tighten the skin and the result is a glowing firm look."

It costs a packet, but for these new breed of multi-tasking women who are financially sound, it doesn't really matter. Cost depends on the units of Botox used for various treatments. The price range starts from Rs.5,000 and goes up to Rs.40,000.

So, yes, brides definitely have a variety of alternative treatments to choose from.

KM Kapoor, a plastic surgeon in Chandigarh, said one of the biggest advantages of such a treatment is the zero down time.

"These treatments can be done just two weeks before to get the desired results. Compared to conventional beauty treatments offered by salons, the result of Botox treatment lasts for five-six months," Kapoor told IANS.

Shilpa ShettyAishwarya Rai and Manisha Koirala are some of the Bollywood actresses who preferred late marriage, but looked their best on their wedding day. Others too want to sport the same glow and radiance. However, extra care is advised.

Tips before the Jab
"Before treatment, please do your homework well. Please be sure about the doctor you are getting treated by. Be sure you are not in the wrong hands or your special day could become a nightmare for you. Research well about your doctor, and be sure that he or she is well trusted and qualified," said Shetty.

Most important, the girls must check that the medicine that is being used for the treatment is FDA (Food and Drug Administration)-approved.

"A lot of fake medicines are being made in the name of Botox treatment, a lot of Chinese material is also in market," added Chatrath.

Also, a personalised diet-plan and a specific skin-care regime suggested by qualified doctors needs to be followed in order to maintain the effect.

Microsoft

The new logo of Microsoft, the first in 25 years.
Sydney, Aug 24 (ANI): US-based software giant Microsoft has launched a new corporate logo for the first time in 25 years as the firm gears up for a series of big product launches.

The new logo, which has been formed 'to express the company's diverse portfolio of products', features a square which contains four separate colored squares.
The old logo had a similar look, but the squares appeared deformed as if part of a flag waving in the wind.
Microsoft brand strategy manager Jeff Hansen said that 'the wave of new releases is not only a re-imagining of most popular products, but also represents a new era for Microsoft, so the logo should evolve to visually accentuate this new beginning.'
"The symbol is important in a world of digital motion," News.com.au quoted Hanse, as saying.
"The symbol's squares of color are intended to express the company's diverse portfolio of products. It will sign off all of our television ads globally," he added.
According to the report, the new logo includes the name Microsoft in the Segoe font, which is used in products and marketing communications, along with the new squares.

Fashion

10 Deadly Fashion Sins

If being fashionable were a virtue, most men would be arduous sinners.

Owning fancy brands does not equate good taste, thus resulting in faux pas that are nothing short of eyesores. Here are some mistakes bad enough to send the fashion police knocking down your door.

1. The Wild Shirt
In their attempts of putting together outfits, men come up with erratic choices for shirts which are not even amusing. Wild design and camouflage prints are best reserved for costume parties and not for daily wear. Since what you wear ends up defining you, choose your clothes wisely regardless of your impulses. It is always safe to stick to basic colours, checks and narrow pinstripes when it comes to shirts.

2. Pointy Dress Shoes
Unless you’re out on a homicide roll to kill people by stabbing them with your shoes, one suggests throwing your pointed dress-shoes in the garbage. Dress shoes are a marker for good taste and pointed shoes are huge turn-offs. Fashionable men should invest in brogues, loafers, and Italian-cut dress-shoes. Not only are these pairs versatile and classy, in every sense of the word, they are supremely comfortable to walk around in as well.

3. Ornate Chains
Unless you were impersonating Bappi Lahiri at a costume party, one would suggest that you keep away from jewellery at all times. Nothing makes for a bigger sin, than to see men adorning ornate or clunky chains around their necks. The only permissible jewellery that a man is allowed to wear is a classic piece of watch. Investing in a basic piece will add pizzazz to your outfit.

4. White Socks with Black Shoes
While this combination was permissible in school, no one should follow this rule having grown up. White socks showing through dark coloured lowers is a scandalous death sentence. Always wear black socks with your shoes. Not only do they blend away with your outfit, but also lend a touch of class to your overall look.

5. Ill-Fitted Suits
Can there be an eyesore worse than watching one walk around in their great-grandfather’s suit? While it is exciting to adopt vintage styles, no one should forget that an unflattering fit is bad enough to ruin the look of even the most prized suits. Even if you intend on using a vintage suit, make sure you get them tailored to your specifications.

6. Underwear Alert
Most people get away with wearing crappy underwear because they believe that what doesn’t show is not accounted for. On the contrary, a good piece of underwear is very telling on your overall look. Not only does it provide ample support but is also a confidence booster.

7. Wrap-Around Sunglasses
In the list of fashion sins, this has to be the most unforgivable one by far. Wrap-around sunglasses are unflattering for every face and make one look like a douche bag. With such variety in sunglasses, one can easily sport the effortless looks created by aviators and wayfarers.

8. Shirtless in Public
Unless it’s a pool party, it is not okay to show your beef around in public. While fit physiques are exempted from this rule, people with flab on their tummy are suggested against this vehemently.

9. Neon Colours
While it can look good on women, men are advised to stick to the neutral and basic colour palette. While having a solitary item in a neon colour is permissible with sufficient neutral cover-ups, men should keep away from this trend.

10. Unkempt Facial Hair
They say that the best accessory one can wear is their hair. If that is true, then unkempt facial hair is the biggest fashion mistake and a gross sight for onlookers. Unkempt beard does not look fashionable in anyway. It should either be groomed or shaved off completely.

With this tale of caution, you are advised to stop sinning in the name of fashion. Dress well to be remembered for your good tastes.
