Ekalavya
Eklavya (Sanskrit: एकलव्य, éklavya) is a character from the Hindu
epic, the Mahābhārata. He is a young prince of the Nishadha, a confederation of
jungle tribes in Ancient India. Eklavya aspired to study archery in the gurukul
of Guru Dronacharya, the greatest known teacher in the use of weaponry and
martial knowledge at the time. He was son of Vyatraj Hiranyadhanus, a talented
soldier in the army of King of Magadha. Magadha was ruled by Jarasandha, who
was at odds with the Kingdom of Hastinapura.
Eklavya sincerely sought the
mentorship of Drona in weaponry and martial art. Drona discouraged him, and
ultimately rejected the boy due to his caste. Out of respect for Drona, Eklavya
began a program of self-study, using a clay image of Drona for inspiration. Eventually,
Eklavya achieved a level of skill superior to that of Arjun, who was Drona's
favorite and most accomplished student, and part of the royal Pandava family.
The Pandavas come across the boy in the forest one day, and Eklavya told them
of his self study under the idol of Drona. In a cruel move, the guru demanded
that Eklavya cut off his right thumb in obeisance to his guru, a request that
could not be refused by a student in a gurukul. Eklavya agreed to the demand
without hesitation, severing his right thumb and presenting it to Drona.

That Day After Everyday
video Credit: youtube.com
Anurag Kashyap recently released a short film ‘That Day After Everyday’ on eve teasing and molestation. Three women, each succumbing to societal pressures of being a woman at first, finally put their foot down and fight back against ‘the men on that street’. The director hints strongly towards the male psyche in India and how wrongly it is expected of women to back off when attacked, or rather endure it – how the woman is always at fault.
There is no justification for molestation or harassment, none at all. The film is heart-wrenchingly thought provoking and that is why every man must watch it. It takes only a real man to stand up against an issue this big and be respectful towards women. We applaud Anurag Kashyap for this effort.

The Vampire Diaries
The Vampire Diaries is a
supernatural drama television series developed by Kevin Williamson and Julie
Plec, based on the book series of the same name written by L. J. Smith. The
series premiered on The CW on September 10, 2009.
The series takes place in Mystic
Falls, Virginia, a fictional small town haunted by supernatural beings. The
series narrative follows the protagonist Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev) as she
falls in love with vampire Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley) and is drawn into the
supernatural world as a result. As the series progresses, Elena finds herself
drawn to Stefan's brother Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) resulting in a love

point shifts on the mysterious past of the town involving Elena's malevolent doppelganger
Katerina Petrova and the family of Original Vampires, all of which have an evil
agenda of their own.
The pilot episode attracted the
largest audience of any series premiere since the network began in 2006. The

award nominations, winning two People's Choice Award and many Teen Choice
Awards.
On February 11, 2013, The CW
