TV Show

In this ‘Nostalgia’ series we bring you a list of TV serials that will make you reminisce the good ol’ days; when you didn’t have 99 channels and yet there was no dearth of entertainment!
Malgudi DaysTa na na ta nananananaaaa. Can someone please bring Swami, Mani and Rajam back?

Byomkesh Bakshi: So what if Byomkesh’s character was inspired by Sherlock Holmes, he totally kicked ass!

Chandrakanta: The serial that left the country glued to television in the mid 90s!

Surabhi: One of the best cultural programmes to have ever hit TV screen. Siddharth Kak and Renuka Shahne rocked. Once they had a record of 10 lakh postcards for one episode; does that ever happen these days?

Shaktimaan: So we weren’t that young when Shaktiman and his alter-ego Pandit Gangadhar Vidyadhardhar Mayadhar Omkarnath Shastri hit the screen. But how do we not include India’s very first Superhero in this list?
Tara: This show didn’t play by the ‘middle-class rules’ and yet was successful. From kissing to women smoking and extramarital affairs to live-in relationships, it had it all.

Dekh bhai dekh:  Let’s sing along… Is rang badalti duniya mein kya tera hai kya mera hai, Dekh bhai dekh; Har shaam ke baad savera hai, dekh bhai dekh…

Vikram Aur Betaal: So Betaal was kind of a vampire and he scared the bejesus out of us; but can we still have an encore?

Mowgli (The Jungle Book ): Did you make fun of other kids by singing, ‘Jungle jungle baat chali hai pata chala hai... Chaddi pahan ke phool khila hai?' If you’ve never done that, you probably weren’t born in the 80s.

Karamchand: The carrot-munching detective Karamchand and his assistant Kitty never failed to keep us entertained and thrilled at the same time.

Duck Tales: Uncle Scrooge and his three nephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie. Oh how we finished homework (without any prompting or prodding from our mothers) in order to catch their adventures!
