OMG: Dogs Get Rs. 14 Lakh Wedding
Extravagance has no limits, and this was evident when Lola and Mugly, two pampered dogs, took their 'vows'. British dog lover Louise Harris gave her six-year-old yorkshire terrier Lola, the unthinkable – a £20,150 (approx Rs. 14 lakh) wedding.
Here's how the proposal came about: Louise who runs a dog boutique, Diva Dogs in Essex, ran an online competition on her DivaDogs website and her Facebook page to find the perfect husband for her princess Lola. Hundreds of would-be suitors poured in, but obviously Lola’s favourite was Mugly, previously voted as Britain’s ugliest dog, owned by Bev Nicholson. Clearly, in this case opposites attract!
About 80 guests were invited to this grand celebration in a marquee on the grounds of a mansion in Bradwell-on-Sea, Essex, and costing £2,500 (approx Rs. 1 lakh) for the venue alone, The Telegraph reported. Louise spent an incredible £1000 (approx Rs. 72,000) on decorative flowers, and about £3,000 (approx Rs. 2 lakh) to decorate the marquee.
Lola wore a £1,000 (approx Rs. 72,000) wedding dress, made by dog clothes designer Michele Ochs, customised with 1,800 Swarovski crystals by Latimer Couture. Her outfit was perfected by a £400 pearl necklace, £250 worth Swarovski crystal leg cuffs, and a Swarovski crystal lead costing £350 to complete the look.
The rest of the money was spent on bridesmaid dresses, and page boy outfits.
